Dear Padfoot, Thank you, thank you, for Harry’s birthday present! It was his favorite by far. One year old and already zooming along on a toy broomstick, he looked so pleased with himself. I’m enclosing a picture so you can see. You know it only rises about two feet off the ground but he nearly killed the cat and he smashed a horrible vase Petunia sent me for Christmas (no complaints there).
-- from a letter written by Lily (DH10)
This torn photograph showing toddler Harry on a toy broomstick was left forgotten in Sirius Black’s bedroom in Grimmauld Place only to be discovered years later by Severus Snape, who tore off the part of the photo showing Lily to keep for himself. Along with the photograph was a letter from Lily to Sirius which was also torn by Snape. Harry found these items in Sirius’ bedroom in the fall of 1997.

Notes
The only cameras we see in the series are Colin Creevey's Muggle camera and the large old-fashioned camera used by Bozo, the photographer for the Daily Prophet, which emitted a huge puff of smoke when it took a picture. It would seem that Lily and James had a wizarding camera of their own, certainly not either of the two types mentioned above. This is one magical object we would like to know more about.
