On this spot, on the night of 31 October 1981,
Lily and James Potter lost their lives.
Their son, Harry, remains the only wizard
ever to have survived the Killing Curse.
This house, invisible to Muggles, has been left
in its ruined state as a monument to the Potters
and as a reminder of the violence
that tore apart their family.
-- Written in golden letters on Potter Memorial Sign (DH17)
A wooden sign with golden letters found in front of the ruined cottage where James and Lily Potter died, commemorating their sacrifice.
When Harry and Hermione visitied Godric’s Hollow, a touch of the gate made the sign rise out of the ground. Many witches and wizards had visited the site and signed or carved their names. (DH17)
