It's possible that this pimple remover is merely a repackaged form of Essence of Murtlap, which the Weasley brothers learned about from Hermione via Lee Jordan (OP26). They used it previously to cure the boils that were a side-effect of the experimental Fever Fudge in their Skiving Snackboxes (OP18).
