In wooden filing cabinets in his office, Filch keeps detailed files on the activities of wrongdoers in the castle. Fred and George Weasley had an entire file drawer of their own (CS8).
Some older records are stored in boxes. Boxes 1012 to 1056 contain the records of the deeds of James Potter and Sirius Black (HBP24).
