"What did you say you’ve got at home, Malfoy, a Comet Two Sixty? Comets look flashy, but they’re not in the same league as the Nimbus."
-- Ron Weasley (PS10)
The Comet Two Sixty is a recent entry in the Comet series of racing brooms from the Comet Trading Company – released no later than 1991.
Appearances
Draco Malfoy owned one of these before he had his father buy new Nimbus brooms for the whole Slytherin Quidditch team (PS10).
Cho Chang, the Seeker for Ravenclaw’s Quidditch team flies a Two Sixty (PA13).
Tonks also flies one and envies Harry his new Firebolt (OP3).
During the Quidditch tryouts for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team in Harry’s sixth year, a Comet Two Sixty was crashed by an unsuccessful candidate (HBP11).
Commentary
Notes
Ron's comment that Comets only look "flashy" implies that they are no longer at the cutting edge of performance needed for a racing broom (PS10). Even Oliver Wood, when considering what broom Harry Potter should get when he joins the Gryffindor Quidditch team in Harry's first year, doesn't mention the Comet 260 as a possibility (PS9).
