"Hmm… I could do with a new quill."
-- Hermione Granger outside Scrivenshaft's (OP16)
Scrivenshaft’s Quill Shop was a quill retailer located on the High Street in Hogsmeade. Hermione bought a black-and-gold pheasant-feather quill there in October 1995 (OP16, OP25).
- Hermione bought the fancy quill just before the meeting at the Hog's Head for members of the new Dumbledore's Army group. They signed their names to a parchment list onto which she had placed a Snitch Jinx in case anyone told Umbridge about their meetings, which were forbidden (OP16, OP27).
- When Ron was learning to apparate, he tried to appear outside of Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop, but ended up outside Scrivenshaft's (HBP21).

Etymology:
Probably a combination of "scrivener" (basically meaning scribe, and derived from the Latin scriba) and "Wissenschaft" (a term for research-intensive academic study, originally associated with the emphasis on inquiry and discovery that characterized German universities in the nineteenth century (source: Wikipedia). -BB
