“I’ll make it. ...I must have done it a hundred times. I could whip up a Mandrake Restorative Draught in my sleep —”
“Excuse me. ...But I believe I am the Potions master at this school.”
-- Gilderoy Lockhart and Severus Snape (CS9)
"In a few hours the Mandrake Draught will be ready and everyone who was Petrified will be all right again —”
-- Harry to Tom Riddle in the Chamber of Secrets (CS17)
Mandrake Draught is a powerful antidote which will revive people who have been Petrified.
Ingredients
Mandrake, of course
References from the canon
- Mature Mandrakes are needed for this potion, which Snape brewed in May, 1993, to restore the victims of the Basilisk from the Chamber of Secrets (CS9).
- There has been some discussion as to how Petrified people would be able to drink a potion. Clearly this particular concoction is not always ingested. Perhaps Madam Pomfrey applied the potion to the skin of the victims.

Notes
In the CS movie, Snape's argument with Lockhart over who should brew the Mandrake Draught is left out. In the final scene, credit is given to Pomona Sprout and Poppy Pomfrey for making the potion instead.
