The first floor (which would be called the second floor in the United States) contains a number of classrooms, including those for Defense Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic. It is directly accessed by students using the marble staircase leading up from the Entrance Hall on the ground floor. McGonagall’s office and study are located on the first floor. A balcony on the first floor overlooks the Entrance Hall (DH32).
