"The Western wand-purchaser should dispel from their minds any notion that the pink blossom of the living tree makes for a frivolous or merely ornamental wand."
-- Mr. Ollivander (Pm)
A wand wood (Pm).
- According to Mr. Ollivander, trees famous for their cherry blossoms in Japan are used to make wands "most highly prized by the wizarding students of the school of Mahoutokoro" (Pm).
- A cherry wand combined with a dragon heart-string will give the owner "lethal power" (Pm).
- Neville Longbottom received a new cherry wand with a unicorn hair core after his original wand was destroyed by Antonin Dolohov in the Battle at the Department of Mysteries. Neville's original wand of unknown wood had belonged to his father, Frank Longbottom, before he was stricken insane by Bellatrix Lestrange (OP35).
Neville's poor magic ability in his first years at Hogwarts may be in part because of the fact that he was using someone else's wand, not one which had specifically chosen him.

Notes
While the fruity flavor of cherries can be found in everything from pie to cough syrup, the real medicinal value may be in the boiled bark of the wild cherry tree, an age-old treatment for whooping cough and all sorts of lung-related problems. source: Botanical.com
