Fry-up

"Excellent nosh, Petunia. It's normally just a fry-up for me of an evening, with twelve dogs to look after...."

Fry-up

Definition

A full meal of fried food, typically including eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, toast, and tomatoes.

Marge offhandedly remarks that, since she's so busy with twelve dogs, it's normally just a "fry-up of an evening" for her, which means that her idea of a light supper is a huge, hearty fried breakfast (PA2).

Mrs Weasley does a fry-up for Harry when he turns up at the Burrow by means of the flying car:

"I don't blame you, dear," she assured Harry, tipping eight or nine sausages onto his plate. "Arthur and I have been worried about you, too. Just last night we were saying we'd come and get you ourselves if you hadn't written back to Ron by Friday. But really," (she was now adding three fried eggs to his plate) "flying an illegal car halfway across the country - anyone could have seen you -" (CS3)
