The black-and-white pencil drawing depicts the momentous occasion when new Hogwarts students cross the lake in a fleet of boats, led by Rubeus Hagrid, at the start of term on September 1st. This scene particularly comes from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 6. Once at Hogwarts, the students then experience the terrifying thrill of being sorted into one of the four houses.
