Archaic term referring to a person who takes more than five minutes to be sorted by the Sorting Hat (Pm).
- The Sorting Hat deliberated between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw for five and a half minutes, before sorting Minerva McGonagall into Gryffindor, making her a Hatstall. (Pm).
- Peter Pettigrew was also a Hatstall; the hat spent a considerable amount of time trying to decide between Slytherin and Gryffindor (Pm).
